A P-40F on the ramp at Aloe Field, circa 1943. This ship may have been
attached to the HQ flight of the 61st Single Engine Flying Training Group.

Ruffled Feathers

This unidentified P-40N from Aloe Field suffered some sort of 'oopsie'
while operating out of Fannin Field, one of Aloe's auxiliary strips.

Broken Hawk

P-40N 42-105782 was involved in a midair with another P-40 (42-105827) on June 2nd, 1945.
Apparently both pilots were able to make crash landings at Aloe's auxiliary strip #10,
located near Fannin, Texas. The photo shows salvage work underway on 42-105782,
which was flown by Francis W. Richter. Pilot of the other ship was Bernard A. Moscar.
Both were assigned to the 2500th Base unit at Aloe Field.

The following was written on the back of the photo, and is shown exactly as it appeared:

Fannin, 6/45

Duke, Tommie, Nigger,
+ Berny, gloat over
the fact, there will be two
less daily's to pull to-
night!

'Aloe Al'

Yeah, I know... funny lookin' P-40, huh? The Republic P-47 was also flown out
of Aloe Field, so I figured I'd toss this in here just for the heck of it...
