'Carole' & 'Hot Lips'


P-40F #47 was flown by Alfred C. Froning, shown in these photos when he was a Lieutenant.
His ship was named 'Carole' and the name 'Hot Lips' was applied on the port wing above the
guns, as shown in the first photo below. Froning scored three times with the P-40, twice on
April 18th, 1943 and again on April 30th, 1943. He also scored three more times after the
squadron had converted to the P-47 Thunderbolt.
