Dog Hawk

This photo itself, taken at Bellows Field in late 1943, is fairly well known, but the
subject is something of a rarity: 'tis a P-40D, one of just 23 built. Not sure how many
made it overseas to places like TH (Territory of Hawaii). According to the source of
the original image, one Winnie LaVerne is behind the stick of this Hawk.

Sgt. Ed Solensky turned wrenches on Hawks of the 73rd Fighter Squadron, including this P-40E.
The photo was taken in Hawaii either in late 1943 or early 1944.
