Bell P-63 Kingcobra
With its strong family resemblance to the P-39, the P-63 has been erroneously referred to by some
as an improved variant of the former. The two were, in fact, completely different designs. Although
a vast improvement over the P-39, the P-63 was not quite on par with other types that were either in
the middle of development or already in service; namely the P-47 and P-51. As result, the P-63 was
used in the USA only for training purposes and did not see combat with the USAAF. The majority
of Kingcobras built went to the USSR, though little is known of their use by the Russians.
