(The date is handwritten on the reverse, but I think the photo was taken in 1943.)

This photo came from a photo album owned by Stanley C. Wade, who
was a B-24 pilot. I hope to present more of Stanley's photos here in the future.

AT-9A 42-56891 in front of one of the Parks Air College hangars at Parks Metropolitan Airport in
Illinois (formerly Curtiss-Steinberg Airport and Curtiss-Parks Airport) in 1943. Parks was one of the
private flying schools contracted by the US Army to provide primary flying training during WWII.

This ship was operated by the 61st Twin Engine Flying Training Squadron when she was involved in
a mid-air collision with another AT-9A on December 29th, 1942 during takeoff from Kelly Field, Texas.

The National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio has in its
collection AT-9 41-12150, one of only two AT-9s known to exist today. The other, AT-9A
42-56882, is in the possession of the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
